There is so much you can do with ground venison. One of my favorite recipes is also extremely easy...venison salisbury steak. It's a great way to use up venison before the next season, or to have a simple and quick homemade dinner.
INGREDIENTS
1-1/2 lbs. venison, ground
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup seasoned croutons, crushed
1 egg
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
2 jars (12 oz each) mushroom gravy
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray the bottom of a 9 x 13 baking dish with cooking spray.
In a large bowl, combine venison, onion, crushed croutons, egg, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Mix well.
Form meat mixture into 6 patties and place in the baking dish.
In a medium bowl, combine sliced mushrooms and gravy, pour over the top of the patties.
Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
Serve with mashed potatoes and a salad or vegetable of your choice.
Note: You can customize the spices you use, or even add sliced onions and green peppers on top of the patties. This recipe is versatile and can be customized for your family's tastes!
