Who doesn’t love bacon-wrapped poppers! This is a field-to-table recipe. When dove season rolls around, you can bet I’ll be making dove bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers. This is such a simple and easy recipe.
Ingredients:
Bacon
Dove breasts, cut in halves
Jalapenos or Anaheim peppers, cut in halves
Cream Cheese
You will need Toothpicks
Step 1
Pre-Heat Traeger Grill to 350 degrees. If you don't have a Traeger, you can use your oven.
Step 2
Cut the jalapenos in half longways. Make sure to scrape all the seeds and insides out. If you don’t, your mouth might be on fire when you take a bite...but if you like spicy, you might want to leave a few in!
Step 3
Fill the jalapeno halves with cream cheese. Put half of a dove breast on the top of the cream cheese. Wrap the stuffed popper tightly with a slice of bacon. Use a couple of toothpicks to hold them together.
Tip: Use flavored cream cheese such as chive and onion to add some extra flavor!
For something a little different, you can put another half on top of the other popper to make popper sandwiches.
Step 4
Place the poppers right on the grill or on a baking sheet in the oven. Bake until the bacon is nice and crispy. Let cool a little, and then serve.
What a perfect appetizer or main course.
