Sarah Honadel
Idaho
My name is Sarah Honadel, I was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky and moved to southeast Idaho in 2017. Growing up, my family spent a lot of summers camping, and my stepfather enjoyed fishing and deer hunting, but it was never something I had any interest in doing. It wasn’t until 2008 when I met my boyfriend John that I considered hunting. I tagged along with him on a few hunts and it definitely peaked my interest. The next year, he bought me a rifle for my birthday and I harvested my first deer that season.
Over the past few years, my interest in hunting and the outdoors has grown tremendously. I started deer hunting with a rifle and muzzleloader, then got a bow and fell in love with archery. Turkey season is my favorite though. There’s nothing like hearing that first gobble on an early spring morning! I harvested my first elk and mule deer in Idaho in 2016, and began waterfowl hunting in 2017. In December 2018, I was able to go on my first mountain lion hunt and harvest a beautiful lion. This hunt was one of my most challenging and one that I'm extremely proud of.
My boyfriend and I process all of our own meat and enjoy knowing that we are able to provide fresh, organic, healthy food for ourselves and family. We eat everything we harvest, and love cooking various meals and sharing our recipes.

In addition to hunting, I enjoy gardening, canning, crafting, travel and camping. When I’m not hunting, you can usually find me in my craft room making antler jewelry or on a weekend road trip exploring some place new.
I have enjoyed teaching many of my non-hunting friends about the benefits of hunting as it relates to wildlife populations and conservation, and am hoping to finally be able to convince some of them to join me in the field! I look forward to not only sharing my knowledge and experiences with other women, but also learning from them and their experiences.
